There is a lot of talk regarding Business Intelligence systems (BI) inside IT departments and more and more at the executive business levels as well. This concept has many names and one of the broader definitions is the Corporate Performance Management (CPM). Throughout the presentation the attendees will have the opportunity to refresh their knowledge in a compact form - how to manage business performance, what is CPM, how does it help various decision levels, why is a (well) defined company strategy decisive when determining the successfulness of CPM projects, how BI and CPM concepts differ and which IT tools support the CPM in practice. Razlog za izgradnjo podatkovnega skladišča je bila velika distribucija podatkov in potreba po centraliziranem spremljanju informacij. Z izgradnjo podatkovnega skladišča je bila pripravljena osnova za izdelavo avtomatiziranega in subjektivno neodvisnega poročevalskega sistema. Orodje Business Objects pa idealno, ker omogoča izdelavo grafično bogatih in vnaprej preračunanih poročil, hkrati pa tudi zelo primerno za izkopavanje in preiskovanje podatkov v podatkovnem skladišču.

However, the true business value lies in the ability to transform the increased information quality into changes of how the business is done i.e. in the optimization of business processes. Which are the key factors of BI systems absorbability and what is the current situation regarding the BI and its absorbability in Slovenian organizations? This presentation is based on the research Business Informatics in Slovenia conducted by the Business Information Institute of the Faculty of Economics, Ljubljana.
